Government guidence

Leaving aside travel insurance and quarantine issues, I’m just wondering how many people have cancelled plans to travel to the Canaries or Balearic islands based solely on current government guidance not to travel to these destinations of which I understand have lower cases of Covid-19 than the UK?

And I then wonder how many of these people like to enjoy an alcoholic beverage or three while holidaying in ‘safer’ destinations and how many of them will in no way go over the blanket 14 units government guidence for both men and women regardless of age, height and weight. 

And then how many others consider the government to be pretty ridiculous when it comes to blanket quarantines and general guidance.

People make decisions based on many different factors. Some are very 'rules' driven, others are driven by impulse. Risk assessment doesn't feature for most people.

Having had a return flight cancelled whilst abroad, enduring a very strict lockdown, spending around two weeks hunting for a return flight whilst concerned about eventually ending up on unpaid leave, and now in an interminable battle to get the cost of it all refunded has greatly impacted my thinking. In some ways catching Covid-19 on holiday is low down my reasons on why it isn't worth it.

We'd normally be away to France / Spain for 2-3 weeks quite soon, but haven't anything booked and won't be going this year. We often book our ferries for next year by Christmas and won't be doing that either.
