Confusing signage so I need to appeal

Options
Got a parking ticket at about 7.45pm. Looking at the top sign that would be fair enough, but the bottom sign looks as if it was ok to park after 6.30pm.
Can anyone clarify please as everyone who has looked at it so far has said they wouldn't know what to do and would definitely appeal.

As this is council you should take it to pepipoo fightback forums using a non Hotmail email address and post it in the council section

But looking at the bottom sign , it's permit or pay by phone etc , not free parking , but I have always found these signs confusing anyway due to all the restrictions

Ps, reading it again , after 1830 the top sign applies

No, the bottom sign says you either have to have a permit or pay before 6:30pm on Mon - Sat.

The top sign says that after 6:30pm on Mon - Sat it's permit holders only.

In other words, this bit of the sign...

...effectively says that at 7:45pm on any day you need a resident's permit to park there.

  • Thanks for explaining that. Now that you have done so, I can see what you mean. I still maintain that it is confusing if you don't live in London and are familiar with how these signs are set out.
We put the picture on a few group chats and everyone found it confusing. Even some colleagues who live in different boroughs of London.
If it was all on one sign then perhaps it would have been clearer (I know it is technically on one sign, but looks like two).

I agree that the sign is confusing, but pepipoo.com is the best place to take this as they are the council and police motoring experts whereas we specialise in private parking charges here on MSE.

You will need to sign up on pepipoo with a non-hotmail email address.

Not a hope, those signs are entirely fine. If you read you see the hours dont overlap.
But pepipoo may be able to find technical wins.

I don't live in London. I have never lived in London.

You don't have to live in London to understand that sign.

The people in London are not better equipped than the rest of us.  ;)

I understand the sign and have never lived in London!

  • Thanks all. I've figured out why I think I find the sign confusing. All of the times have either am or pm except the 6.30-10pm sign in the top bit. That's why it looks like it overlaps to me.
I think if it said 6.30pm-10pm there w would be no question in my mind at all.

I've registered on Pepipoo as suggested and have realised that there have been others who have misunderstood the exact same signs.
