Holiday Refund

Like many, our holiday has now been cancelled.
We have not been given the option for vouchers. We have been informed that because of financial regulations a full refund will be put back on the original card we paid with. Our problem is the initial card we paid the deposit on was a credit card we are currently paying off through stepchange on a payment plan.
The rest of the payments, which is ALOT more money than the initial deposit was all paid with a debit card.
It seems very unfair than ALL the money is going to have to be put back onto a credit card that was only used for the small initial payment. They do not offer vouchers, only refund onto first payment card. Can the travel company dictate where they refund?
It is going to cost us interest from the credit card to redistribute money from credit card to our own bank accounts.

But if they put the money back on the credit card it will reduce the amount you are paying back with the payment plan.0

Usually this would be fine but the holiday is for two families so we will need to refund our extended family's money for their holiday. Just frustrating the travel firm will not refund into the different accounts. We only used credit card for a very small deposit.0

Agree, seems like a no brainer to me. You are also supposed to report any increase or lump sums of funds to your dmp as part of the agreement. Surely this now reduces the length of the dmp as well?

I thought they refunded to the card/method you paid with.
I had a recent refund and it was split between the two cards I paid with (deposit and then balance)Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
This is what we were hoping they would say/do. More than happy for Initial deposit to go onto credit card to help with paying it off but the rest of the money was either paid on our debit card (which we saved and paid for over 14months) or extended family's debit card for their half. If ALL money is put back onto our credit card. Than we would need to find a substantial amount of money to refund extended family's money.
Travel firm has said due to "financial regulations" they HAVE to refund to initial card.0 -

The hotel we had a deferred booking with at the start of lockdown end of March In the UK, has permanently closed. They agreed we could Go back to them to rebook from July / August which I have now tried to do but received an email response that they have closed. The accommodation was provided by Secret Escapes who took our payment, who I assume the hotel would have claimed. How and who do I get a refund from for services not provided? Please advise, thanks0

I have been informed that Credit Card companies will refund back to a bank account in situations like this. It happens all the time, you pay someone a deposit and they pay it in a lump sum.
Check with your Credit Card company.0 -
