Hi, if I order something online that uses Amazon Pay, will it use my gift card balance on my account first and then use a credit card attached to my Amazon account? thanks

At the foot of this link, it states that you cannot use Amazon Gift cards in Amazon Pay, so I would assume that will mean the Gift Balance will not be touched/accepted.
https://pay.amazon.co.uk/help/201754650
Note that Amazon Gift Cards* cannot be used as a payment method to place an order using Amazon Pay. Amazon Gift Cards can only be redeemed towards the purchase of eligible products at the relevant Amazon website (www.amazon.co.uk, www.amazon.de, www.amazon.fr, www.amazon.it, and www.amazon.es).
So debit or credit card only.0 -
I can confirm that if you order something online and use 'Amazon Pay' to pay, Amazon will automatically use the credit card attached to your Amazon account and not any gift card balance you may have. And you will not get legal protection from using a credit card. So why bother.....1

Agree with the above - in that it doesn't deduct from a gift card balance. I tried it once - but seems a bit of a long way around of doing things - using the card stored in my amazon account to make a payment on another website. Whenever it's come up as an option since, I've ignored it and gone the traditional routes, or where applicable used apple pay/wallet linked to my phone/watch/macbook.0

It's not a long way round of doing things for the website in question. The whole point is that Amazon Pay, and alternatives like Paypal, can be used by small firms and traders who don't have their own card-processing facility and don't want to pay for a service like Worldpay etc.cymruchris said:Agree with the above - in that it doesn't deduct from a gift card balance. Easy to set up for the trader, easy for the customer to use.
It's not a long way round - it's a convenient way to pay/take payment.0
