Can anyone please tell me if it makes any difference to opening a Halifax Reward account if you answer the question "is this going to be your main account" yes or no? I am about to open an account and I don't want to be turned down if I say no.

Well just lie & put yes.

That is what I thought I just wondered if it made a difference.

I'd argue it comes down to exactly how they word it, but I suspect they wouldn't be asking that question if it wasn't going to play into their decision to offer you an account. Usually banks want you to move all your banking to them so it will most likely disadvantage you if you answer no. That said, in reality there's likely to be nothing they can do as you can always say you intended to use them as your main bank but then after opening you changed your mind as you didn't like something about them.1

Thanks all, I did go with a yes in the end thinking it wouldn't make much difference, only slight problem now is one of the accounts we want to transfer is a joint so will have to go into a branch to start the transfer.
