Safest way to take payment for car

Hi
I've listed my car for sale on Autotrader and hoping it'll sell soon. I'm wondered what is the safest way to ask for payment? I'm hoping it'll sell for around £11k so I certainly don't want that in cash. I haven't sold a car for this value before so I'm naturally nervous.
Thanks
Becky

Bank transfer. The buyer transfers over the phone, you phone your bank and confirm it's been received.0

Sorry for being silly but I assume people will come to view the car and if they decide to purchase would I expect the payment to be received prior to them taking the car away?0

Yes, do not release the car to them until you've confirmed you have payment.beckysbobbles12 said:Sorry for being silly but I assume people will come to view the car and if they decide to purchase would I expect the payment to be received prior to them taking the car away?
If you use online bank transfer it's usually done pretty much straight away (as long as you do it during the week), just check your account online and if the payment is there then hand the car over.1 -
Yes. I purchased my car for £16k from a main dealer and other than a small deposit on the credit card for Section 75 protection paid by transfer. By the time they'd made me a cup of tea and we'd had a nice chat it was showing up in their bank account.beckysbobbles12 said:Sorry for being silly but I assume people will come to view the car and if they decide to purchase would I expect the payment to be received prior to them taking the car away?
