There has been a message about "changing the way you login" on their page for ages but it only came into effect last week.2

Cahoot is a division of Santander, who according to Wikipedia don't quite seem to know what they want to do with the brand (suffice to say the website looks like the Santander one in new colours and less features), but that aside its entirely plausible it now uses the Santander platform as does the main brand, and that's required text message OTPs for quite some time now.

Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) forms part of the banking licences, and all UK banks were originally meant to have it implemented by the end of March 2020. Because of the lockdown, some were given some slack and are only implementing it now.

Please can somebody advise me? Cahoot now need a OTP even when I try to log on to see what has been paid/not paid yet out of my account!!!!! I live in the country so town banks are not an option. I can't get OTP from my mobile unless I walk up a nearby hill. This is not helpful in the rain.
They are virtually freezing me out of the only bank account I have. Help! I can't even contact them by landline phone on Saturday afternoons or all day Sundays. How can I get around this problem? Are all on-line banks operating in this way now?0 -
As far as I know most will require otp in some form or other now: I have accounts with Santander / cahoot / rbs / tsb / Halifax / metro / Ybs all now have some other security hoop that needs jumping through from time to time. I don’t mind it; if it makes things more secure but can see your issue. Can you connect mobile to house WiFi to get code that way? On the iPhone it’s enable WiFi calling but should be similar options on android under advanced in networks and internet, from memory.Dimbo said:Please can somebody advise me? I had a current account with Triodos for a while, and they have a digipass device (like a mini calculator) which provides a OTP, so for this account a phone is not necessary. The account costs £3 a month, though, and Apple/Android pay is only available if you use a free third party solution, Curve. Once setup it works transparently - the Apple/Android contactless transaction is processed by Curve and your Triodos account is debited immediately and you see the name of the retailer in your Triodos account.

i have not yet found a workaround for accessing my cahoot account without the OTP business, but if it is of any help going forward, barclays online does not require an OTP just to logon, only some passwords, but for most transactions you then need their card-reader or app. nationwide will also let you logon either by OTP or their card-reader device.0

NatWest let you check the banking on their app with a fingerprint read, you need to login online (with the code) to setup payments which also checks their card reader. Echo the above, use a wifi signal boost or get a better phone provider. Two factor authentication is here to stay and everyone will need to use it.0

Not all networks support wifi calling and those that do don't always support sms over wifi.Catplan said:

Three, iD, BT mobile and EE (postpay) seem the most universal.0
