Any EU laws to help get refunded for US flights?

Hello,
I am a UK citizen who had a few internal US flights booked back in May which I was unable to take of course due to the covid US travel ban.
I wondered if anyone knows if there is a European law which would help me get refunded for these flights seeing as I was unable to get over to the US to take them through no fault of my own?

The airlines, Frontier and JetBlue, have offered me credit vouchers but they expire at the end of this month! (Travel can be made in 2021 but the actual booking needs to be made this month). With all the uncertainty, particularly with the US being what it is right now, I am finding it difficult to choose a future travel date and feel really under pressure with the expiration of my vouchers looming! So really, I would prefer to obtain a refund if possible so I can make the choice to book again freely once all this is over.

By the way, I do have travel insurance  with Nationwide but they have said they can't help me because the airlines gave credit which means they offered a solution and it's not their problem if that solution doesn't suit me. Bit unfair considering the travel ban is still in place and only god knows when it will be lifted and safe to travel to the US again!

If there isn't an EU law that would help me in this case, does anyone have any other ideas?

The EU, or any European Government has no jurisdiction on a US airline doing business in its home market of the USA for a service wholly within the USA.

Sorry, if your insurance won't pay out then I'm not sure you have anywhere to go with it.

I’m sorry but there isn’t any available alternative here.

The internal flights presumably still went ahead and the airline were very generous in terms of offering the vouchers as they did not have too, although I appreciate you don’t feel that way since your insurance then wouldn’t deal with it and the vouchers have an expiration date on them.

Sigh, well that's unfortunate. Thanks for your replies!
