HSBC chargeback for ryanair floghts
Dentoned

So we had three flights booked for the last week of june. They didn’t happen and despite asking for my money back i received a voucher. I have requested a chargeback off HSBC (pair on credit card) in June, and has been told twice on the hsbc livechat that there is a “special team” dealing with this and i should jus wait 60 days from now each time. Anyone else facing these long delays?

Ryanair aren't refusing refunds. They were being painfully slow, but anecdotally are starting to move a bit quicker.
Quickest way to request it is on the Ryanair help chat bot. Type "cash refund" and the bot will then ask for all your details.
No harm in requesting it from Ryanair whilst you wait for HSBC. Obviously though you aren't entitled to both, so if a Ryanair refund comes through you will need to either cancel the chargeback with HSBC, or if it's been processed then they'll take it back.0 -
I waited around 40 days for a Santander chargeback against BA to process recently. Bear in mind that the retailer then has a further 45 days to dispute the chargeback, during which time it can be reversed. No free lunch, and no free laptop

The worst aspect of this process is not getting a confirmation e-mail after you have cancelled via the bot.bagand96 said:Ryanair aren't refusing refunds. They were being painfully slow, but anecdotally are starting to move a bit quicker.

What happens if you repeat the process, will it pick up the fact you have already submitted an application ?
Very amateurish procedure compared to BA.0 -
Ahhh yes, BA. The airline who used website coding to hide the Refund button and then conned people into taking a voucher....Butts said:

One phone call through in 2 minutes and refund processed to my card.
If only the procedure was so straightforward with Ryanair, Easy Jet Virgin and a host of others. If Ba are con-artists god knows what category the aforementioned fall into.0 -
Thanks for the comments, I went on Ryanair’s website tonight and their chatbot has vastly improved as you stated! I’ve requested a refund so see who delivers first?!0

No airlines have been great through the crisis. I was merely suggesting that holding one airline up as a great example might not be appropriate. Especially as the named airline did use some very sharp practices on their website to make getting refunds more difficult.Butts said:

Personally I haven't had a problem with any airlines I've dealt with. Although my personal view was that in an unprecedented global pandemic with travel cancellations on a scale never before seen in Europe, delays to refunds were inevitable. I didn't let waiting for a refund stress me out, and I didn't expect it immediately. But everyone's different.1 -
Just consider yourself lucky you have not had any dealings with Last Minute.com they really give the Industry a poor name.bagand96 said:

People not involved with them do not realise the incompetence, lies and unwarranted delays they specialise in. Anyone dealing with TUI, BA, Easyjet and even Ryanair have it easy believe me.0 -
I waited 11 months for a chargeback from HSBC last year... made endless complaints but they just kept referring it to the special team. They didn’t even apologise once it was all sorted; and I had 6 separate complaint handlers.Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0

Couldn't you complain to The Ombudsman ?SaucySecrets said:I waited 11 months for a chargeback from HSBC last year... made endless complaints but they just kept referring it to the special team. They didn’t even apologise once it was all sorted; and I had 6 separate complaint handlers.0
