It's the time of year again to renew my car insurance, so as always I refer to the great advice offered on the MSE website.
I followed the links detailed of comparison sites listed in order. I then used the link for By Miles with the offer of a promotional discount of £60. On clicking the link and completing the form I was declined, strange. So I rang By Miles and I was advised this offer will not be honoured as I used other comparison sites first. Their agreement with MSE is anyone using the By Miles link first will be granted the discount.
I feel this is unfair as I followed the list of comparison sites listed in order and By Miles was further down.
Has anyone else experienced this and how can this be escalated?

Escalated to who? MSE for having poor advice on their site?
Having gone through an aggregator like Confused.com then By Miles will have to pay them commission for the referral. By using the voucher MSE will also get a referral commission and you the discount. The company don't want to pay out referral commissions twice so block the second attempt.
Read the T&Cs of the offer but it will almost certainly be discretionary and so the only complaint is to MSE for not warning to try them first0
