Lloyds froze my account due to partners IVA

Hi,
I've had a joint account with my partner on a Lloyds account for the past 5 years. Although he doesn't use it, it's my money that goes in there.
Yesterday my card started getting declined. So I called them this morning. And after a lot of confusion because they couldn't figure out the error codes it turns out they've frozen the account as my partner has applied for an IVA.
They have said they won't discuss it with me and should I wish to access my cash I have to go to the bank. Which is currently on reduced hours due to Coronavirus, open between 10 and 2 and not at the weekend.
Apart from the mortgage this is the only thing we have in a joint name, and he asked for it not to affect me as the debt was from his previous marriage.
I'm stumped as to what I can do to get my money if I can't get to the bank. Do I need to have him removed from the account? Like I said he's never used it. It's always just been my cash that went in there.

Strange, as insolvency does not usually result in a bank account been frozen, only bankrupcy does that.Make it a complaint, and send it in writing from you both, you both sign it, explain its an IVA not bankrupcy, the account should not have been frozen, ask how to obtain your money, not going to be quick though i`m afraid.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Not strictly true sourcrates.
A bank will suspend all accounts held in the name of the debtor if a debt to that bank is being included in the IVA. As your partner is named on this account, it will be frozen. I'm assuming your partner has included some other debt with Lloyds in his IVA, hence the joint account being frozen.
Is there an overdraft on the account? If there is, the bank will not let you remove your partner's name. If there isn't they may let you remove him, but as the account is now flagged as an insolvency account at lot of the time you will be met by the response 'nothing we can do'.
You can plead with them on telephone banking to open you a new account solely in your name and transfer the funds, but they probably won't do anything. You will likely need a 'letter of no interest in funds held' from your partner's IP in order to draw funds over the counter too so get him to get this ASAP.
Your partner should have been advised by his IP about this, but if they asked him if there was any joint accounts and he said no, there's no way of them really knowing about it.
Good luck!1 -
OP is the account overdrawn?
If it is, even if its your own money, then you could have problems unlocking it.0
