Vat reduction on Hotel stays - price quoted before the reduction

I booked 2 rooms on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate in June 20 before the Vat rate reduction. When we stayed at the hotel on 30/31st August 20 the Vat rate was shown as 5% but the price we were quoted stayed the same. I understand the supplier doesn’t have to pass it on to the consumer but in effect the hotel had increased the net price so they still got the price we were quoted. We discussed it with the owner of the hotel but he refused to pass any of the saving onto to us. The cost of the stay was £848. A deposit of £200 was paid in June 20.
Due to Covid we didn’t get any tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The room wasn’t serviced for the 2 nights we were there. The room was supposed to be ready at 2.00 pm but we had to wait until 4.00 pm. There was no offer of any refreshments whilst we waited.

They don't have to pass on the VAT saving.
You could/should have complained and asked for a discount/compensation due to lack of services such as tea/coffee. Did you ask if they would make you a tea/coffee instead? Much better often to ask at the time, politely, instead of complaining afterwards.0 -
