Myself & my husband are wanting to move house (renting) so I checked both of our Experian credit reports. My credit score is good with no CCJs. However, when the lettings agency did a credit check using Experian, they said there was a CCJ registered against me and refused to let the tenancy go ahead. I know nothing about it & I can't even see it on my report so I don't understand. Just wondered if there's potentially something I'm missing.

Check your experian credit file, see what is registered.Look on the register of judgements also, that can be accessed here -Common reasons to have a CCJ you are unaware of are, parking fines/consumer credit act debts/etc sent to an old or incorrect address.

Two things would annoy me - first they are accusing you of having a CCJ when it isn't true and the other thing - now you'll have the record of their hard search on your credit file for no reason, since you've been refused. I really would chase it up with them and make them explain.
If all else fails, can your husband apply on his own? Or you could go to a different lettings agency. That one doesn't sound very efficient at all. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Thanks for your reply. I protested my innocence & they reckoned they rechecked it but it was right. All they could tell me was the amount plus the date - no other information. It meant nothing to me. I am beyond annoyed but I think it was just a case of 'computer says no'. I just wondered if I was being stupid and missing something obvious cos if I'm honest, it's the first time I've ever looked at my credit report.
