Problems registering with NS&I

Just wondered if anybody else is having problems registering with NS&I online. I am trying to open one of their Income Bonds but try as I might I cannot get a response either by filling in their form, live chat or, heaven forbid, telephone. Have been trying for a couple of days without success and on the brink of giving up. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

Yep, I'm in the same boat. When did you send off the form ? It seems that they just don't have the infrastructure or resources to deal with the surge in demand.1

I tried to set up an account with NS&I before the lockdown to hold the funds from a house sale and gave up because their admin and staff were abysmal. Although the Income Bonds look attractive, I have been put off applying due to my bad experience earlier this year.2

Set up a direct saver on ns and i on Sunday online ,and put money in within a day no problems.1

Thanks for all your replies. Bobziz - I haven't managed to even get the form completed as it says I must call NS&I. Needless to say, they aren't able to deal with calls efficiently. Unable to get a live chat going either - nobody available every time I try. Wyrley - I am impressed and dont know what to say. I am banging my head against the wall here. Xylophone - I have tried a different browser with the same result. I think I will just have to give up and try something else.0

Do you mean that you are trying to download a form so as to apply by post (and can't) or that you cannot complete an on line application?0

I've been trying to make a withdraw for over a week now. The online banking system doesn't work (surprise, surprise) and I'm asked to call with my PW and NS&I number. Recorded message saying up to 50 minutes wait and the chat system doesn't work either. The recorded message also says to call NS&I only if your need for money is "urgent" ! Goodness, I don't know of any other banking systems that only deems your access to your own money can only occur if it's urgent! What a farce. The excuse is that CV-19 has reduced staffing numbers, etc., etc. Funny how other financial institutions (private) aren't also affected. A complete omni-shambles. I guess this is a cunning ploy to hang onto people's hard earned cash (or otherwise!) as the Government is acutely short of dosh at present.

Worth noting, NS&I are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority nor do they have to comply with Payment Services Regulations for timely payment processing. And finally their back office is outsourced to ATOS.-1
