Are NS&I Income Bonds better than the "highest interest" easy access savings accounts?

This thread has been very helpful, thank you! I've had an NS&I Direct Saver for years (and recently moved some funds from other savings accounts across) but hadn't considered Income Bonds before.
  • Hi everyone.

I take it we're talking here about the NS&I bonds which are currently topping Martin's easy access chart. What I want to know is how 'easy' the account is to set up.

I have considerable misapprehensions about committing large amounts to third parties via robotic systems designed basically to allow the organisation to sack more human staff. In the past I've dealt with providers who wanted me to set up so many layers of security (because they patently were unconvinced by the security levels of their own systems) that the whole process became time-consuming and deeply worrying. Ideally I'd ditch internet and use branch/post but that's probably just an old fogey talking

Can anyone vouch for a relatively simple and smooth process with NS&I???

I can vouch for the way in which ALL my dealings with NS&I over very many years has been transacted in every respect.

Sounds the best place to keep your large amounts of money is under your mattress.

On my list of places I would use to research financial products, Trustpilot would rank close to the bottom, somewhere alongside facebook and twitter
None of those would be on my list to research financial, or indeed any other product ;)
