CELLO SMART TV NO LONGER SMART

I am trying to get info on my rights as bought cello smart TV 9/2017 and play store will not update apps or add any. Contacted cello and they said runs on Android 4.4 and play store are 5.3 now. They no longer sell as smart. Bought from EBUYER who say hard luck only guaranteed 12 months. Surely I have some recourse as specification is  no longer what I bought

Specification is what you bought .

The fact that Play store etc has been upgraded is a fact of the current times .

Question has been asked multiple times re no longer Smart.

Firestick etc to make it Smarter .

Recourse for what exactly?  It was smart when you bought it, it'll say in the small print "features subject to change" or similar.  They've changed as the requirements for modern day Amazon/Netflix/whatever have changed and the old TV is not supported for those changes.  Generally the cheaper the TV was in the first place the sooner the apps will drop out of support.  We've seen Samsungs from 2010 that no longer support Netflix.

Easiest solution depending on what you were using is either a Firestick, a Roku/NowTV Box or similar.  If you were just using it for Freeview it'll be fine for a few good years yet.
