When the financial association passes away

Hello all,
When a person listed as a financial association on the credit file dies, do they automatically get removed from my credit file, or does this have to be requested?

I seldom look at my Credit File, but noticed that my husband, who died 3 years ago is still listed as a financial associate. I contacted the Credit Agency who said he was linked through a joint bank account we had and I had to ask the bank to remove his name. (When he died the account was transferred to my sole name and all his banking affairs were settled.)
When I phoned the bank, they checked my account and said there was nothing showing a link to my husband and it was nothing to do with them, so it was up to me to ask the Credit Agency to remove his name.
Could I just leave his name there, on the assumption that any credit enquiry on his name was show his death, or is it vital that I make further efforts to remove it? At my age, I will not be making mortgage or loan applications, so the only people who seem to do searches are new bank accounts and insurance applications.

Fill in and submit a notice of disassociation form with each of the CRA’s they appear on

Thanks. Will do this, though the Credit Agency I spoke to said it was up to the bank to remove the association.0
