2021 South-America Travel

Hi, We were due to go on our honeymoon to south-america this year (multi-stop). This has now, understandably, been cancelled. Everything is booked through one travel company. We been given two choice (i) move the adventure to August / Sept 2021, or (ii) get a refund. We are aware that we are covered by ABTA and ATOL in the event that either the airline or the travel company cease operating, however, we are unsure as to where we stand if we get stuck in quarantine upon arrival? We would appreciate any guidance on this matter or top tips on the best course of action. Many thanks.

If you have the option take a full refund while you can, stash the money away in an interest bearing account and wait...none of us know what this winter will hold as regards travel next year/virus/vaccinations etc.

Covid is rife in South America. I'd consider quarantine on arrival a somewhat odd major concern.

Probably a refund would be the safest option,  but it might be worth asking them what happens if you take the postponement option but the COVID situation means that travelling then isn't plausible either. Will they allow you to postpone again? If you get the refund and ARE able to travel in 2021 it's likely prices will have increased substantially so it's worth getting as much information as possible before making a decision - there's going to be risk involved whatever you do, you just need to decide what kind of risk is acceptable to you. If you're not absolutely set on South America or the multi-stop trip  it might even be worth looking if they will let you change to an alternative destination, or just stick to one country.
