Lastminute.com package holiday refund

Hello, I hope someone can offer me some advice. I booked a package holiday with lastminute.com for the end of August, but in May they changed one of the connecting flights to two days later, meaning my family, including 3 children, would be stuck in Brussels for 2 days and we would miss 2 days of our holiday. I chose the option to refuse the change and ask for different flights, but I have heard nothing from lastminute.com since. As we got nearer to the holiday with no change in flights, I decided we had to request a cancellation. The cancellation was requested through the website, and I have heard nothing at all from them via email. Their phone line only has a recorded message now. The accommodation for the holiday have since contacted me to ask if we are still coming. They say the booking is through booking.com, who I believe is a partner to lastminute, and they have heard nothing of a cancellation. They say the accommodation booking is non-refundable, so we will not get our money back for it and can only rebook the accommodation for another time, for an additional fee.
My question is, should I wait to try to get the whole refund from lastminute.com or rebook the accommodation for next year and wait for a refund on the flights only from last minute? I thought it was booked as a whole package holiday, but now I'm not sure. I definitely booked it all on the lastminute website, but I made two payments; one for flights and the other for accommodation.
