License renewal/ need to buy insurance
Would appreciate some insights here... realised my license expires at the end of this month [10 year requirement] but I need to sort insurance for a first car. Does the one affect the other? Is it best to renew the license after I've got the insurance or vice versa?
Cheers!

Go ahead and renew. Some insurers ask for your driver number (which will remain the same), most don't. None will ask actually to see the licence.1

Licenses that expired between February and the end of August 2020 have been granted a 7 month attention. The DVLA don't have the staffing resource at the moment to keep up with all the paperwork1

It is not your licence that expires, only your photo-card. Your right to drive under your licence lasts until you are 70 (unless you are disqualified or your licence is revoked).1

Thanks all for your input, best to be sure!0
