TESCO CAR INSURANCE

Hi,
My car insurance is due for renewal on the 18th
August. I'm using the comparison websites on this site. Tesco car
insurance has come up as one of the cheapest but I've read some really
bad reviews. Googled my current insurer which is Sheila's Wheels/Esure
(same company) and they get equally bad reviews. I know that people tend
to leave bad reviews much more than good reviews.
My
question is: Has anyone had any experience with Tesco car insurance,
good or bad. You only really find out how good or bad an insurance
company actually is until you have to make a claim? Tesco's renewal
price is about £50 cheaper per annum.
Thanks in advance.

My daughter's been with Tesco's for years. They've actually been cheaper than or within a few pounds of the cheapest on the comparison sites each year. She's never made a claim apart from windscreen but that went ok and the admin has been fine when changing addresses, etc.2

Many thanks for your reply. It's always good to get as many "first hand" experiences as possible as like I said people are much quicker to leave a bad review when they're angry but the majority of people don't take the time to leave good reviews if things are ok.

Their left hand doesn't talk to their right hand. Took just over 3 years to sort out an accident that everyone (except the perpetrator) said was not my fault. I made the mistake of staying with them in the hopes they would get it sorted. Big mistake! I now have a new insurance with some extra cover (just £s on catagories no real change) cheaper than my original insurance with them. I could have saved myself £100s.

Or for a real example, a customer had a rare Ferrari (but not in collector condition) and had a windscreen claim, we sent our glass company with the 1 windscreen for it in the UK at the time. The customer refused to have it fitted because it wasnt etched and was in a white box. We explained it was a genuine item, from the factory that make the screens for Ferrari but if he wanted they could send it to Ferrari in Italy to be etched and reboxed but it'd take about a month. He said thats what he wanted so the glass company had it sent off. About 2.5 weeks later the customer was on the phone saying he'd changed his mind and he'll take the white box screen... no screens left here so he had to wait the 5 weeks it took. He complained to all and sundry (and wouldnt be surprised if it also did online too) but I've no idea what else we could have done.1 -
My husband was with Tesco, only changed when we got cheaper deal with Churchill. He had to claim on the Tesco insurance, absolutely no problem, vehicle was a right off, went on fire, they gave a very good value on vehicle and it was paid within two weeks. If they came up as cheapest on compare site I use I would certainly use them again.2
