Yes I did set standing order up.But when they sold the dept on,should they have stoped taking the money from standing order. And is it right,to use "as you put it a" name in disquise".I have stoped all payments, and now receiving reminder letters fro Robinson way"DCA.But nothing from MCS.So will the odbinsman, come to the same conclusion as you have,"quote"paid half the dept,"unqout".I was hoping for a refund+interest??
I did not mean to sound sarcastic.
Other and I agree with them have told you - only you can cancel a standing order.
As (presumably) you still have a debt I can't see them refunding you any capital or interest - sorry.

    Which department had been sold?
Why would a binman have anything to do with it?

IN 2014 HSBC SOLD MY DEPT OF £3,000 THAT I :WAS PAYING BY STANDING ORDER :TO DEPT COLLECTION AGENCY,SO I NOW PAY THEM,BY DIRECT DEBIT £10 A MONTH.IV JUST DISCOVRED,THAT THE STANDING ORDER TO HSBC IS STILL ACTIVE.SO BEEN PAYING BOTH.BUT THE STANDING ORDER IS NOT TO HSBC,ITS PAID TO M.C.S.WONDERING HAS ANYONE ELS EXPERIENCED THIS.BEEN PAYING BOTH SINCE 2014.WOULD BE INTERESTING TO HAVE SOME FEED BACK.IT IS NOW BEING DELT WITH BY THE FINACIAL ODBINSMAN,OWING TO NO BODY WAS WILLING TO HELP ME,.
It sounds as though you defaulted on your original deal, is that the case?

If so, and the bank has allowed you to make reduced payments then when you overpaid they can view it as you just managing to get closer to the original deal.

What is it that you want out of this? The money which you have paid hasn’t gone, it’s been reducing your debt.

I'm not sure the debt will have reduced John? my reading of it is HSBC sold on the debt to DCA, OP has been paying DCA £10 and also never cancelled SO to HSBC so in effect was paying them £10 also, I'm not convinced HSBC would automatically pay over the £10 per month to DCA?
To the OP, I'm sure you will get your cash  returned,  I'm not sure which way, but it would probably be better for it to be sent to DCA to try and help you clear the debt quicker, and maybe you would be better upping payment to DCA to £20 as well as soon as you cancel HSBC SO, you have been paying this amount anyway, again it'll help get this debt off your back quicker
