Are these two terms describing the same thing ?
Q11 asks what is the value of the RE at the spouses date of death, in fact I am struggling with this section. I’m very confused and just want to communicate on the form that when my mum died in 2007 that her entitlement was unused therefore when my dad died in February we would like to claim his RNRB of £150k plus transfer 100% of Mums of £150k.
Any pointing in the right direction would be much appreciated 😊

if the amount you put in box 7 is less than in box 8 then you don’t have to fill in boxes 9 to 12, you just enter 100% in box 13 which will allow the full amount to be claimed. So unless her estate exceeded £2M you don’t have to worry about the residence enhancement questions for her.

So my mums estate would be nil in box 7 as everything was joint what would I put in box 8 - 2 million ? Then 100% in box 13?

Although everything was joint her estate was not nil as far as IHT calculations are concerned it would have been 50% of their assets at the time she died.
