trusaiyan you are not going to convince us you are right, or even that you have a point so why are you still posting?

The whole purpose of "legal tender" is as "a very narrow and technical meaning in the settlement of debts" and @jon81uk very kindly linked to the specific legislation dictating what those narrow and technical meanings were.Just because you and others think it means something else doesn't make it so in much the same way as most "hoovers" are not actual Hoovers...

The op has repeated the same points numerous times and had multiple answers yet keeps going back to these points. Will this ever end?1

In fact, a postage stamp is legal tender. A bus driver would have to accept that as currency, if he doesn't, report him

I was speaking globally, hence why I used the adjective GLOBALLY.MobileSaver said:trusaiyan said:I am sure you are aware that globally, the WHOLE PURPOSE OF THE LEGAL TENDER CONCEPT is it's ability to make cash (to be mandatorily accepted by creditors or courts to discharge the obligation when tendered (or ideally any payment obligation, as it is in some countries with hard legal tender). As you have been told umpteen times, no it is not. How can I nominate Ditzy_Mitzy and jon81uk for some sort of recognition in the New Years honours List? (I'd consider unholyangel too, but I don't think she's really taking this 100 page thread attempt seriously).

So you're saying that every country in the world (except, it seems, the UK) follow your definition/understanding of the purpose of legal tender? Every single one? You must be, as you're using the adjective Globally.

Correct; but you need to present yourself to the bus driver inside an envelope addressed to your destination, with the correct postage affixed to said envelope, in order for legal tender rules to apply. The bus driver is also within his rights to drive you to a neighbour's house, leave you behind the conservatory or take you to a sorting office thirty miles away, as long as an illegible card attempting to explain this is put through the letterbox.Jack_Cork said:In fact, a postage stamp is legal tender. No, you were speaking codswallop, globally means "the whole world" which is clearly not the case so perhaps this is another word that doesn't mean what you think it means?trusaiyan said:I was speaking globally, hence why I used the adjective GLOBALLY.
