Refusing Refund

Hi All,
If I can ask for advice I would be grateful.
In brief, I was booked on a hen weekend in Portugal for April this year, along with 16 others.
This was cancelled due to the virus.
We can rebook within 12 months. Majority of party have rebooked for next year. I cannot go due to childcare/frail elderly mother (it was a push going this year tbh). I have emailed to request refund but they have refused.

I would like a full refund £179.00, but they are refusing. I paid through my bank and didn’t arrange insurance (it was on my to do list - yes I know 😳😳, lesson learnt )
Thanks in advance

Who was it booked with?0

Infinity weekends
They have said I can credit or swap. I don’t fancy taking my children on a weekend away with a group of stags/hens.

It’s not ABTA protected either!0

Their Ts & Cs do specify:In the case of your event being cancelled due to force majeure ie, civil war, acts of god or measures out of our control, Infinity Weekends would not be in the position to offer a refund. You should contact your insurance company or credit card provider in this instance.so if you don't have insurance and didn't pay by card (assuming 'I paid through my bank' means that this was a transfer rather than by credit/debit card, thereby nullifying any chargeback rights) then your only remaining option would seem to be to sue Infinity, arguing a case that the quoted term is unfair and denies you your statutory rights.0

Two questions:
1. Is this £179 your share of a group holiday price?
If it is, then the group need to decide whether they accept or not and once accepted there is probably no turning back. Even if the group size changes because people don't want to go and the company agrees to refund the difference, then the holiday will need to be repriced and you may find the difference between your original cost and the price difference shared amongst the non-attenders is a lot less that £179.
2. On what grounds are the company refusing to refund?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Thanks for the replies.
£179 is my share.
’force majeure’ and acts of god! Covers everything, surely this isn’t right?0
