Hi all,
I’ve had a Miele Washing Machine for about two years now - Eco W1 classic.
I’ve had a Miele Washing Machine for about two years now - Eco W1 classic.
I’ll often do my whites on a Cotton cycle, 30 degrees. When you start the cycle it says it takes 2hr 39mi.
I’ve noticed a few times when I go to check it after say an hour noticing that it has under an hour to go. This morning I put the machine on at about 9.45 and was surprised when I went to check at 11 that it was already finished!
Nothing seems to come out still dirty - it /is/ properly clean - but I was wondering if anyone knows whether it has some kind of sensor or something that reduces the time if the products aren’t too heavy.
I never put it on unless it’s physically full - but it’s mostly bedsheets and the like - so it may be under the weight threshold.
Just wondering if anyone else’s has this issue. I must admit not noticing it when it was new - but that’s not to say it’s only just started.

I have a Miele and find this with several programmes - the engineer (when he came out for the umpteenth time to fix my coffee machine) told me that the machine is 'clever' and once the water is in, the machine knows how full with clothes the drum is. It then adjusts to suit the washing. In the 'old days' he said they would have a half load button!0

Most decent washing machines have sensors to detect weight and general soiling of your wash and will adjust the times accordingly.0

Machine has sensor that weighs and adjust water ant time accordingly. On W1 classic you can also select quick wash on screen ( normally top of the digital screen ) if the load is less than full, that lower the time by some 30 - 40 minutes too...and the lower the temperature , the shorter the time ( as there's no need to heat up the water ) 90 or 80 degree wash will take considerably longer than 30, when you select the cotton wash ( 1 or 2nd choice to left on dialling knob ) it gives you under 3 hrs or 2hrs 40 min ( or something similar if I remember correctly ) , then as you select lower temperature time adjusts ( depending on temperature selected it can be more than 30 min to 1 hr less ) even before you start the cycle and then sensor will lower the time further so you might end up with bit over 1 hr in total. Having said that, every now and again do the long, hot wash - good for bed linen and good for WM.0

Thanks for the replies all.Wasn’t sure whether to contact Miele in case it’s broken.Wouldn’t normally have considered putting the machine on half load or a short wash, as I always thought this for people who put the machine in when it’s not full, whereas mine is always full in terms of volume (but probably not weight).
This probably explains why I’ve never noticed this on dark washes, as they’re usually heavier I suppose.0 -
Their machines are built to a decent standard so I'd say - it ain't broken, don't fix it.... ( or call Miele to fix it) as long as wash comes out clean , spin dries the load well and machine is quiet, don't worry about time on screen, I'd rather have machine that takes longer to wash or time on screen can be bit misleading, than machine that washes badly, shakes and rattles whole house and breaks or falls apart after 3 years.0
