Travel agent bookings

Looking for some advice - my family of 4 and friends family (4) had booked to go to Florida in may 2020 with Travel planners, however due to Corona virus this didn't happen and we thought we would move our package holiday to September 2020, naively thinking this would have passed. Travel planners have since tried a few dirty tactics to get us to try and cancel or move our holiday and pay more all of which we have declined. We have lost many parts of the package we originally booked, it is not the holiday we have paid for!! And still they refuse to refund as they say they are all minor changes. We heard nothing from them, then out the blue they said they were changing our direct flights (glas/Orlando with virgin) to indirect (glas/gatw/Orlando, with BA). Now BA are cancelling all September flights and when my friend contacted travelplanners for an update they are telling us we are no longer booked on ANY flight at present but they are looking at flights via Iceland!!!!! So travelplanners are sitting with £14,000 of our money, won't give it back and saying we have to wait until 1 week before flights go till they cancel!!!! This cannot be right. All advise greatly appreciated.

I should also add that travelplanners have wiped our MyDisneyApp bookings, which were originally there. Could it be that they have actually cancelled our whole booking but holding onto ALL our money, until very last minute??? Surely that is not legal????0

You would need to check the terms you signed up to but flight routing changes are often stated in the terms as minor changes. If it is, until they cancel the holiday it doesn't sound like you have any entitlement to a refund at the moment.

Seems to have passed you by that all airlines are cutting routes, crew, planes and even bases. From an agents point of view a fluid situation that must be a nightmare to keep up with.laconfidential said:We heard nothing from them, then out the blue they said they were changing our direct flights (glas/Orlando with virgin) to indirect (glas/gatw/Orlando, with BA). There'll be no access to the USA for some considerable time. As a consequence your holiday will be cancelled.0 -
I am fully aware that airlines etc are in dire straits, and what the situation is and will be like with Corona virus in the USA for the foreseeable, other companies are cancelling there clients way down the line and refunding etc, find it strange that TP are not!!! I very much look forward to the cancellation email!!Thrugelmir said:

Not sure which companies are refunding customers 'way down the line' but most travel agents are working in a strict order of travel dates and won't commit to cancelling until a week or so before. Although frustrating, this is understandable when you think of how many people they are dealing with and how many refunds to be issued. I think you just need to be a little patient. If the holiday is cancelled, which looks like it will, you will be entitled to a refund but you may have to wait a bit longer than the 14 days.0

The law says that companies can wait until there is no prospect whatsoever of the holiday taking place before cancelling. As you know the US won't let UK residents in, and frankly, right now Florida is a complete mess even though Disney and Universal have reopened. I would expect you will hear in a couple fo weeks and as far as I know, they are refunding in full if you do not want to rebook for next year1
