British Gas

We were with British Gas for dual fuel until 31st August 

On the 9th July we had a mail from the company SO whom we were switching to and we would be on supply with them as of the 30th July 

All went well until we got our final bill from British Gas which I have to say was in record time 

Also we have smart meters so they were able to take their own readings 

They have charged us a different tariff from 9th to 30th July. Are they allowed to do that. 

Has anyone had the same

Meanwhile, BG had an earlier problem when they could not get their head around the fact that a customer could change supplier penalty free, if they started that change process within a 49 day window of their 'Fixed' tariff expiring - BG even took the view that the 'Switch' date was the day the customer started the process, when in fact it is the day the new supplier takes over -   It took a slap on the wrist from Ofgem to bring them into line.

Look at the bill and it will the name the tariff that applies to each section of it's charges - If the 'Other' tariff section is headed Standard Variable or words to that effect, BG are still trying to fiddle the rules and your response should be a WRITTEN letter sent by Royal Mail, headed Complaint  - Just like that, Big & BOLD

PS  If you Switch had been delayed beyond the expiry of your present tariff, by the rules BG have to still charge you at those original Fixed Tariff rates
