Surely the significant change is the outbreak of the disease which has caused the FCO advice not to travel there as intimated in the article.

The PTRs require that the unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances "significantly affect[ing] the performance of the package or the carriage of passengers to the destination" and personally I don't see generic FCO advice against non-essential travel as meeting that definition, although it would be different if, say, the destination was in full lockdown or extensive quarantining was needed on arrival there, which is the distinction I believe the MSE/ABTA wording intends.

My flight left Stansted for Lanzarote  a little over an hour ago and I wasn't on it!

I have emailed my hotel separately as I'm sure last-minute won't have contacted them with a cancellation.

According to my booking area on the LM website my holiday is still live!

They are an absolute shambles ...

My Holiday to the USA is still showing as scheduled to depart on Saturday even though BA cancelled the Flights over a Month ago. Fortunately I only have a small deposit at stake, managing to swerve the balance payment they would quite happily have taken for a non-existent vacation.

At every stage I have had to instigate communication. To be fair they have responded to most of my e-mails but only with generic diatribes.

Last night I finally got them to admit my Trip had been cancelled in writing. If you mention the word chargeback to them they start saying to do that would complicate things and prevent them from processing my refund options.

As the package organiser it is their responsibility to refund me. As I have only paid a small deposit this should be almost instantaneous and has nothing to do with recovering money not even paid to from providers.

I have asked them to refund my deposit within 14 Days as per the PTR's in cash to the card used to pay. I have clearly stated not to bother compiling my "refund options" as I am only interested in being recompensed in cash as is my right. Failing that I have advised them I will be instigating a chargeback.

With the written evidence I have of their incompetence I am confident if they don't cough up my Credit Card Provider will.
