Hi, we had a flight booked for 2 people on the 8th August 2020. Because of what happened at the weekend we took advantage of the free flight change and go in mid September instead. The original flights were approx £293 paid for in November 2019 our rearranged flights are a lot cheaper at £125, am i entitled to a credit for the difference ?

Had your flight been cancelled you would have been able to get a refund of the £293 and then rebook at £125
    For changes they state -
" If the new fare is higher you will be required to pay the fare difference. No credit is given if the new fare is lower."
  • That don`t seem fair. The flight was not cancelled but we could not go as it was non essential travel and travel insurance would have been for null and void plus Quarantine on return. Should i have asked for credit voucher to use next year and then just book flights for September?
  • I could not find anything relating to no credit given for lower fares.
  • Which airline?  If Ryanair or Easyjet forget it.   Think you will be treated the same as any other instances when you pay a certain amount and later you find the flights have been reduced, you don't qualify for a refund.    Who knows what will happen to flights in September or whether we will all be in total lockdown again (I sincerely hope not but who can tell?)

    section on fees - https://www.easyjet.com/en/terms-and-conditions/fees

To give you extra flexibility in these uncertain times, we are currently waiving the flight change fee for changes made up to 14 days before departure.

For changes less than 14 days before departure, we are also currently reducing our peak season fee so that our off-peak fee applies even during peak season.

Other change fees may apply for changes made after the current fee waiver has ended.

Standard terms and conditions apply to all changes. If the new fare is higher you will be required to pay the fare difference. No credit is given if the new fare is lower. All changes must be made at least 2 hours before departure.

I had to move a non refundable hotel from April to December. New dates were cheaper.  I didnt get the difference back. Think in this case you just need to be greatful you still have flights and you havent lost any money.  Especially given the 8th Aug flight probably hasnt been cancelled and it was your choice alone to move them.
