hard search done on credit score with getting a mortgage, even though we cant go ahead as on furloug

Hi

Me and my partner are trying to get a mortgage but struggled as im on furlough and working for an airline.

We had managed to get an agreement in principle but i still have to send lots of documents and was the condition of me not being on furlough. Unfortunately my work have messed me around saying im not on furlough, i am and not. Well I am and means we will not even be accepted with Leeds. I emailed the broker 5 days ago as i had been offered a large voluntary redundancy package, asking if my partners salary could do the shared ownership mortgage, and i got a very rude reply. Now today I have had an email saying leeds have done a hard search on my credit score, instead we have found another lender which accepts my furlough and is better rate and we pass the affordability very well. Will the hard search now ruin our chances of being accepted with our new lender? And will we have to pay anything now Leeds have done a hard search? so frustrating as I have just managed to get my score to excellent.

One search has ruined nothing. And your credit score isn't used in lending decisions, so nothing to worry about at all.

many thanks for your quick reply, also the broker we was using before, charges an upfront fee when the application is submitted then more after, im assuming i will be charged a bill now?

Don't mean to sound harsh but if you are facing redundancy is now the best time to be buying?
