BT Sport - won't let me cancel 24 hours after extending my contract

I called BT to cancel and the retention agent convinced me to stay and did offer a decent deal. However, Sky have made me want to stay with them and can give me BT sport on my sky package along with my phone and broadband. However, BT are now saying that as BT sport is immediately available (I already had it and have had it for years) I don't have a cooling off period for my sport, TV or broadband, even though my current contract wasn't due to expire until next month. Are they right about this? Todays agent has said I should have been told this yesterday but they were "trialling" a new way of explaining the T's & C's which was a document sent to my phone which was really small and I couldn't go back and read after I had clicked on each page.

yes, sky for tv and sky sports and BT for phone, broadband and BT sports but now I can get everything through sky, including BT sports.0

This is what the T&C sayThis doesn’t apply if I am buying BT Sport or a BT TV add-on, where I agree that I want my content to start immediately and therefore I don’t have 14 days to change my mind. *

There is no cooling-off period, because it's a renewal, not a new contract. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
