Ryanair flights to Spain

Do we not have rights as consumers when it comes to Ryanair? Govt says don’t go, travel insurance invalid, yet they are still flying - how can this be legal? How can we claim compensation?! Why is more not being made of this in the press? It’s outrageous 😡

This has come up a few times on various threads now.
Although the plane will have holiday makers etc that have made bookings their will also be business people, other nationalities travelling to their homes perhaps and those plain willing to take a risk. This is why the flight is still going, the non refundable rules are quiet clear if you chose not to travel then you will lose out. Not illegal in anyway, I completely understand the frustration but it won’t change.0 -
If your travel insurance covers cancellation due FCO guidance, claim from them. Yes they are still flying, some people will choose to still travel and people that are abroad will want to be able to fly back home. (are you suggesting flying empty planes out to bring them back?)0

What's illegal about an Irish company flying passengers to a destination they wish to travel to. Ryanair cannot afford not to. Cheap seat prices are only sustainable if the planes operate.AWB222 said:Do we not have rights as consumers when it comes to Ryanair? So what happens to all those holidaymakers who flew out to Spain a couple of weeks ago prior to the announcement. How are they expected to return home or are you going to pay for them to stay out there for the foreseeable future?0

And how are Spanish people going to return home to Spain if they are here? I dont think the OP has thought this one through, has he?0

Seriously? It's not hard. People don't just fly Ryanair for pleasure - they travel for work, to see friends, to see family etc - all of which are fine, you just have to isolate on return.
It's not all about you and what suits you, it's about what their customers want - and a lot of them want to fly. If you don't, that's your issue and your loss to bear.0
