My boss has said he will be laying me off for 6 weeks at a time...I have no written contract of employment just verbal and this was never mentioned....where do I stand ?is he allowed to do this just to me in the business? Do I have to accept?

Unfortunately yes. At least he has been decent enough to provide plenty of warning. How long have you worked for the business?0

Your post isn't clear. Are you being laid off (ie put on furlough or zero hours) for six weeks starting now and then brought back? Or in six weeks time are you being laid off for ever (ie made redundant)?

Laying off is an old expression for redundancy when work dries up.
Even without a contract. You are protected by employment law. Has your employer said anything regarding being paid off?

Does your contract set a minimum number of hours or are you on a casual/zero hour contract? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
