Staysure cancelling cover

I am with Staysure, an annual policy that renewed at the end of February. I have a holiday home in Spain. I booked to travel whilst the advice from FCO was essential travel only.  Before that was lifted, Staysure confirmed my policy would be valid if FCO advice changed and it was safe to travel.
I travelled out on 19th July. I have now recontacted them following the changes on Saturday, although the FCO have not advised to return.
Firstly, they advised I was covered until the 10th August. When I advised my booked return was the 29th, they asked for my policy details.
I have disruption cover added. Quarantine is not a problem and I have my EHIC.
They have now advised that I must return home at the earliest opportunity, before the 10th. My cover will cease on the 10th, unless the FCO  advice changes.
I have booked an additional return for the 9th, which could be moved or lost.
I queried that FCO were not advising to return, but was advised 'The underwriter has' .

Thoughts?

Why are they saying the 10th August when you have an annual policy?

Is this the maximum days (21) you can do in one trip?

No. I pay extra for one trip of 100 days per year. Otherwise, it is maximum 50 days.

So what is the significance of 10th August?

I don't know. I am guessing that is the date when the FCO will make a decision one way or the other.

Blindman, thank you for your questions so far.
I'm trying to ascertain what I should make of this. Are they being cheeky? Or should I be grateful they are covering me up until the 10th? Whilst I have my EHIC, of course it doesn't cover repatriation if I end up in a bad way from Covid or a car accident for example. Flight costs etc are of little importance.
If I hadn't have asked, would they have messaged me? Of course, if by the 10th FCO say British nationals should return, I would, as I did in March.
Staysure did not ask where I am in Spain. I am in one of the regions that are pushing for a travel exemption. That said, unfortunately my village is having a break out of cases at the moment, centred on youngsters. I've not even been into my village yet! I'm just emerging from my self imposed isolation as I care about my friends here and the business people.
Back in the UK I am on the doorstep of Leicester.

I can't see how they can say you have to return by the 10th when the FCO have no such advice in place.

    I would challenge that statement
