I've received a quote for decorating my hall, stairs and landing for £1170. It's a 1930s semi and a previous decorator has written "7 rolls paper" under the paper we have stripped off. The walls are not in a good state in the hall - many layers of paint cracking and peeling. The quote is to stabilise walls (may need sanding back), paint 6 doors and frames, paint skirting boards and stairs/banisters (square spindles), paint ceiling and coving, paint 1 window frame. Hang 7-8 rolls of wallpaper. He will supply paint, I supply wallpaper. He says 6 days max - 1-2 days prep, 2 days painting, 2 days papering.
He's previously painted my large kitchen/diner and utility (7 doors, walls, ceiling and skirting), making good to uneven walls and damaged woodwork for £500, which took 3 days- I supplied paint and I am pleased with the work he has done. I know wallpapering requires a certain level of expertise, but just want to know if this quote is OK. SW UK.
"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.

My OH is a painter decorator, and says that this sounds about right for a job that would take 6 days, especially if he is supplying the paint.1
