I've managed to pay my littlewoods and very accounts off in full (at last) would it damage my credit score if I rang them to close the accounts

They will just show as closed accounts.
Lenders will interpret that, along with the rest of your circumstances and credit history, according to their risk criteria.0 -
Would it reduce / remove easy temptation? If it would I'd consider closing them to avoid getting sucked back in. It may affect your report, but not as much as fresh debt that you struggle to repay.

If you could be ABSOLUTELY confident that you won't spend on them - or that you'd buy something and pay it back at the statement date without fail - then keep them open - as long standing credit accounts are better on your credit file. However if there's a chance you're going to buy something because it's easy, and then pay silly interest, you're better off closing them. It's good news you've got them down to zero - so well done on that - now keep them there.1
