Chimney two flues - gas fire one side.

Hi,
We have a chimney in the centre of our house between two seperate rooms. It provides a chimney for two woodburners with their own flues (as in two flues in one chimney).

My partner wants to change one of the woodburners to gas. I have said I don't think this sound safe if there is a woodburner with naked flames sitting behind it in the other room sharing the same chimney.

Am I wrong to assume this?
Thanks

Why do you think it's not safe?

Only because the wall between the two rooms does not look as wide as it would between two houses who are semi detached.
I just was fearful that gas backing onto a wood burner was a bit worrying.
I would love to be wrong. Am I over worrying?

A gas fire needs to be fitted by someone on the gas safe register, so they would only fit one if it was not a problem.

Yes I'm aware of that, just didn't want to go down that road if it was pointless.

You will have (or should have) a solid brick wall between the two fireplaces. If the fitter doesn't think the bricks provide adequate thermal & physical separation, it is no big deal add another layer of brick or thermal blocks.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Thank you. That is good to know.
