Nationwide ISA Transfers

We are in the process of transferring two ISAs from Nationwide to NS&I (junior ISA) and Yorkshire Building Society (cash ISA). In both cases the process is taking weeks and weeks. I am told one reason for the slow pace is that Nationwide insists on making the transfers by cheque considerably slowing down the process and presumably having the benefit of retaining the cash on their accounts for longer than if the money was transferred by BACS.  Is anyone else having a similar experience and can Nationwide legitimately defend this practice?

Good luck. My Nationwide ISA transfer was started Mid May and is still on going. Bunch of clowns and it's not my current provider who handled HSBC and Santander transfers within 3 weeks, end to end.
