Traffic Offence Report (green)

Hi,

I was stopped for speeding 3 weeks ago on the motorway and provided a traffic offence report (and cautioned - anything you do say etc) I have no complaints, I was speeding and I shouldn’t have been. The officers were really nice and it’s my first offence but said I might not be offered a course so it would likely be a fine and points but it wasn’t their decision and so they said not to do anything until something arrives in the post but I can’t find timescales online, I’m getting worried.

The box on the back of the ticket Notice of Intended Prosection (NIP) offence verbal has not been ticked. Could someone clarify what usually happens from here?

Sorry, I just don’t know how long I should be waiting before deeming something might have been lost in the post.

They have up to six months.
  • Thank you! It doesn’t say anywhere on the ticket that I can see. I can stop worrying something has been lost now! 😃

What was the speed limit, and what speed were you doing? That determines whether you receive a FPN or are offered an SAC.
The cost is broadly the same, but an SAC will save you 3 points.

That's something that I like to see.
Someone admitting that they were doing wrong and willing to accept the consequences rather than arguing that the limits are too low, it's a money making exercise or any other excuse.

I don't see any reason against fining [people for speeding being a money making exercise. If people's time is so important they need to speed then they can obviously afford to pay the fines seems like a reasonable approach for an element of taxation.

plus: + "... or are subject to prosecution in court". So, what was the alleged speed and the prevailing limit?
