Redundancy

Hi
Can anybody advise. I am currently on furlough and have been for quite a few months. I received an email last week saying I am risk of redundancy.
I just wanted to know if I could suggest that rather than making me redundant the company could keep me on furlough until October which would give me time to hopefully find alternative employment?
Thanks in advance

I don't see the point in this. What happens if you don't find a job?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Furlough is starting to cost employers so many of them are starting the redundancy consultations now, even if they have not actually made employees redundant yet. The more furlough costs the employer, the less likely they are to keep employees furloughed.
    It's not difficult!

No i'm afraid they cant, and wont.  Furlough is another word for lay off and the lay off is funded by the Corona virus job retention scheme that allows them to reclaim in part the cost of your furlough payment and the key being job retention.  You would be asking them to do something illegal whilst also legally requiring them to still make you redundant, so its a non starter.  If you have been there over 2 years you will be entitled to a redundancy payment plus your notice (at 100% of your salary).

One point is at least clearer. New legislation provides that redundancy pay is to be based on normal pay and not furlough pay https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-law-to-ensure-furloughed-employees-receive-full-redundancy-payments
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
