I originally posted this in the ‘awaiting decisions’ thread, but realise I might get more notice as a separate thread..

A family member has a Zoom appointment with HSBC tomorrow morning. The advisor emailed at the weekend requesting a pre-appointment welcome call. My family member responded very quickly with suitable days/times for the welcome call, but with one day to go until the Zoom appointment, the advisor still hasn’t got back to her re the welcome call. She’s chasing it today with the aim of getting the call sorted for this afternoon, but just in case she isn’t successful could anyone tell me what the welcome call would be about, and what documents/information she would need to provide either as a result of the welcome call or during the Zoom appt? In addition, what is she likely to get asked during the Zoom appointment? For context, she is a long standing HSBC customer, and she’s already been asked to provide her latest play slip.

Thanks in advance.

I'm with HSBC too. They never used to do this but because they are up to their eyes with applications right now they don't want to waste the actual MA zoom appointment.
It's about asking you what product you want, why you want i, have you uploaded payslips etc, can you use zoom, many people don't have the foggiest and appointments have been wasted or overrun because of it.
It's HSBC trying to be more efficient with the MA time and slots. Don't worry if you don't get the welcome call, the MA has likely seen your HSBC account and profile as well as the uploaded docs, so they know it's not a big deal if they miss the welcome call.

I was asked to ensure I had details to hand for any existing borrowing and how I would pay the mortgage if there were issues with my job e.g. details of critical illness cover or sick pay. I also had to hand my existing life insurance policy details and all the specific figures of the deposit. The MA was excellent and my application was approved subject to valuation during the call. Good luck!
