New house - declined credit card

Hi there.
After some advice. I recently moved into a new build house 14 months ago. I have applied for 2 cards and a personal loan over the space of 3 months and been declined each time.
However as a test I used my old address and I got accepted both times for the credit card.
I have a fairly decent credit score. Never missed payments. On the electoral register and have multiple Direct debits using the new address

Any advice?

Perhaps there's something to do with the address not being in the card provider's database, or the format of the address in their system not matching how you put it in?

If - in their eyes - someone's trying to get credit based on a non-existant address, I can see why they'd decline that.

Just a hunch based on it being a new build.

What you your credit reports say on the new address (reports, not score)?

That would be my first call.

Coincidentally, in the last few weeks I've met two people who have recently moved into new build houses.  Both had to give me directions because their allocated postcodes were not yet recognised by satnavs (even Google maps).  Both said that they been having trouble buying things online because the checkout software would not accept their address.  One said they had been unable to update their driving licences because DVLA did not recognise their address and one said their car insurance company had actually CANCELLED their car policies for the same reason!
Based on this, it could well be that the credit card checks returned an invalid address, which would be a good reason for refusing credit.
  • Thanks for all your responses!
Our address only started showing up on the system in January this year. And we get various takeaway delivery drivers and amazon delivery drivers calling us asking for directions regularly.
I guess there's not much else to do other than wait for the credit card systems to be updated as well :(

Stop doing test applications as that could get you into a lot of trouble and see you end up with a CIFAS marker.
Stop doing normal applications as 3 in a short space of time shows desperation for credit.

Did you try your own bank?

Lastly, ignore the credit score and rating as it's not seen or used by any financial institution in the UK, it's the credit history they use for assessing applications.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

So not sure why they don't work on my new address
