Packlink and extra charge for UPS parcel

Hi all
Sent a parcel a few weeks ago via Packlink using UPS. The parcel in question was in the 5-10kg category and delivered the following day. All good I thought!
Yesterday received an email saying 'Overall size exceeds the max permitted for the price band paid: 180cm. '
However the parcel was 50x40x40cm which is obviously less than 180cm. I even have a photo of the box which shows product dims and weight. eBay are no help at all and can't get ahold of Packlink, whom are based in Spain. The charge is an extra £4.99 so not a huge amount but I'm quite angry about this as product was shipped with correct weight and within the 180cm overall size.
Anyone got anywhere with these cowboys at Packlink? Certainly won't be using them again and will organise larger parcels direct with UPS or whomever I choose to ship the parcel.

If your parcel was within their measurements above ' Packages can be up to 400 cm in length and girth combined' phone ebay and try and get to talk to their dedicated team, this doe snot seem an unusual occurance.

Heard nothing but bad things about this outfit (Packlink).0 -
Your package is oversize*How to calculate overall size: Take the two shortest sides of your parcel and sum them. Multiply the sum by 2 and finally add the length. The total is the overall size.
40+40=80x2=160+50 =210 total size

I've used UPS 100s of times over the years as a biz seller and before Packlink came along never had an issue where 180cm is the limit overall.
The overall dims are within 180cm and within the 5-10kg limit that's mentioned so no reason Packlink should be telling me it's incorrect since it's not.0 -
The 5-10kg band has an overall size of 180cm,your parcels overall size is 210cm and should've been priced in the next band,10-25kg where the overall size limit is 235cm.
You have been charged the extra £4.99 as your parcel "exceeds weight or dimensions for selected price band" (additional charge £4.16+vat)0 -

It's not incorrect your calculations are,you are only adding the single dimensions, you have to use the formula shown above.*How to calculate overall size: Take the two shortest sides of your parcel and sum them. Multiply the sum by 2 and finally add the length. The total is the overall size.
Your box is 50x40x40cm so take two shortest sides (40 and 40)then sum them 40+40=80
Multiply the sum by 2 (80x2=160)
And finally add the length 160+50=210cm

Seems the OP despite using UPS hundreds of times has used the wrong calculations, surprised this is the first time an extra charge has been demanded.0

There is a diagram on UPS's site showing how you calculate the overall size. Slightly different way of explaining it but it's the same result. Have a look here under "How to measure your package size": https://www.ups.com/gb/en/help-center/packaging-and-supplies/weight-size.page1
