O/S Daily Thursday 30 July 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Cloudy overcast start to the day but forecast ok, so hoping the sky will clear. I'll be pegging washing out on the line in the hope it doesn't rain.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, fried mash (menfolk), mushrooms and beans. Not sure about tonight but will organise today when I go to the SM.
I have a list of chores I want to get done today, so will work my way through the list.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks for starting us off NMLC. Overnight rain here but forecast to improve, all ready for the one day heatwave tomorrow!
After two days of lugging boxes around and trundling back and forth with crockery and glassware I'm calling it a day for now! I might make a head start on the Friday Tidy this morning and do the kitchen and bathroom. Then, if the forecast lives up to promise, I will sit in the garden and read. It might be a bit too hot for sitting in tomorrow if we do get the promised 31 deg!
I think my trusty lappy could be finally on its way to the laptop graveyard in the sky. It's acting more bizarrely than ever now and I really should get looking be for a replacement. I put it off as long as I can as I hate trying to fathom out new gadgets. Once of a day it didn't bother me battling technology but these days my brain doesn't work as fast as it once did!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. AOD have a day of rest I was worn out reading your later post! Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Good morning folks. It's very wet here and set to get worse I fear. ☹️Yesterday ran away with me, I seemed to be doing too much whilst not really achieving anything. Today is cleaner day so I'll go out whilst she's here. I want to get DM a couple of little black pudding and chorizo tarts from the Italian cafe.I'm on countdown to hair cut day tomorrow morning. 🎉🎉 Along with most others I'll be so relieved to lose the wild woman look. It was tamed a bit by a friend back home two weeks ago but is in dire need of being chopped.Hugs to those who can use them. Happy Thursday to all.14

Morning All
Raining here and set for the day so the allotment visit will be quick. Didn't go yesterday so can only assume there will be lots of peas!
I had a lovely day yesterday with little Sophie, it was DDs birthday so I took her to the botanic gardens for a wander and some lunch. She was very well behaved, had a go on the swing and crawled about a lot on the grass. DD and DP went for lunch nearby. I think I was the only one that didn't have lunch so I was really hungry when I got home.
Washing went out yesterday about 5pm and was nearly dry at 7, it's been on the rack overnight so will put it away, always struggle with that part of laundry!
DS1 is coming later for dinner, he's staying here tonight so he can go into work tomorrow to hand in his laptop, phone, etc.
Right, I'm off for a shower, hope everyone's well, take care. XX14 -
Morning all
Nice bright sunny day here and looks to be a scorcher although tomorrow looks even better, I have a wash on the go and will hang it out should dry well today.
I am off shopping this morning will leave in an hour and try and get back reasonably quickly dd has to go out late morning so I need to be here for the dogs.
I tried my new tablets last night and while they were not as good as the strong ones I did go off to sleep about 12.30 and slept all night so feel quite rested today.
Pizza and salad for dinner tonight so nice and quick, the magic cupboard needs emptying and the kitchen needs a clean, dd will probably do that while I am out.
We are off to dd's old house tomorrow to meet some estate agents to start the ball rolling to get it sold I just hope the evil ex does not turn up, if he does we are calling the police and leaving !!
Nels is the spa open today ? might pop by later xx
Have good days all xx14 -
Good morning, a lovely day here and the first load of washing is in the machine.
I need to do another online course today, then the rest of the day is my own. It will not include anything to do with digging or compost.
I was so tired last night, I went up, had a shower and went to bed, slept like a log too until 4.00.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Morning
Spa is definitely open today for the next two days at least (plenty of shade for TA and her book) nanny on the decks so goodness knows what will happen and Mr Ruby on the bbq Come on down
Terrorist visit was good. At first they (he brought a sidekick trainee) wanted to walk down the road and couldn't understand why I was reluctant when they both had on full space suit ppe aprons masks visors and big gloves ......seriously ? Not normally bothered what people think but it was a step too far lol. Anyway he checked my watch data (yes really) and saw that I was actually doing more steps than his target so instead we played football and he gave me an exercise band to do some strengthening stuff
Must of worked as a workout as I slept well last night for a change. Today is fairly free house looks great so as usual vowing to keep it that way....mmmm we'll see
Today will be a carbonara for ease
Have a lovely day all and pop by later for a cocktail and a dip in the pool

Morning all! Sunny again! Oh is on steroids now, the super duper antihistamine doesn't seem to be making a difference and due to no sleep from itching, phoning, waiting to be phoned back, seeing doc, getting prescription etc not much sleep was had yesterday so visit to his mum postponed until today. Lets hope the six [ six!] tablets he has to take in the morning will make a difference.I was browsing along online as you do and came across a metal llama, so that's one christmas present for a friend, although I might have to give it to her early because it's a garden ornament. It's pink though not white and quite sizeable really [ about 30cm high]..She does actually like llamas a lot and is very crafty, so she may crochet something for it....It'll be a Frida llama before long. However, if she doesn't like it, I won't be offended...I actually quite like it so I might keep itMy spine turned up yesterday...I was looking for something on ebay and found an articulated spine so for a laugh, I bid on it..I wasn't expecting to win it, but it was quite cheap and it turned out , I did win it. So my though now is to spray paint it gold or silver and hang it in the porch when it's done...Definitely a talking point or good for fans of predator to talk about. I know, I know, completely random or what....need to find a skull to go with it now..The one I have is far too heavy to hang up because it's solid resin.I'm going to attempt to dig some garden today. I want my patio....Can't expect the OH to do it, I think the extra sweat on his mostly all over body rash will finish him off. And the potatoes are nearly flopping over so the extra earth can go there once I've dug them out.AOD, I feel your pain. I feel like that too, thinking, when did all this start to take so long? You do make me smile though. Nelksi, glad the terrorist lived up to his name! TA, happy sorting less and enjoying more! It's definitely a bloke thing scarlet, they're buggers for texting at inappropriate times or just never texting back. Nanny, hope you got sleep last night...Hey all readers along, turbo charged Thursday!Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...12

Morning all, the sun is out again here. After all the exercise and fresh air I did sleep well last night as it took me 5hrs to empty, sort, sweep out and put things back tidily in both sheds yesterday. We had a game of "what's this ?" and/or "do you want it ?" Some things were binned and some ready for the scrappy man. I still don't have much room, but I can now get to things at the back without having to climb the Eiger or risk breaking a leg first. However I gave up trying to untangle a long hose which had come off it's roll, it was like wrestling with an Anaconda ! I left it cooling it's tail on the side garden overnight so that delight is one of the tasks for today, but I think it'll need 2 of us to achieve it. Will have to call on my muscle helper for that, who at present is playing in his shed with some wood, allegedly. He's probably turning it into a man cave with a 65" tv and a chiller fridge I have also pulled out our van water porter and the cassette toilet, both need to be re-cleaned and sterilized today, because we won't be going out in our van this year as unfortunately the virus cases seem to be on the rise againI've just had a phone call from "together energy". I have a call guardian on but he bypassed it by announcing himself by a british name. (I thought it was someone we knew.) No thanks, if I want to change my provider I will call them and the number is now blocked. Sorry, I get annoyed with cold callers and he made me miss the scrappy manRight coffee break over, must get on.Take care all, stay safe and well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13

Good morning all.The rain seems to have dried up and little bits of blue sky can be seen now.I hope it keeps dry as my oldest friend is driving down from the Ribble valley area and we are going for a walk. Not sure where she'll want to go but we were brought up round here so she may want to see some sights she hasn't seen for 40 odd years She usually picks me up and we go for lunch but doesn't feel ready for that yet. We last met the week before lockdown so we're looking forward to a long chinwag!DGS has just been picked up,DGD went home last night as they are going to a family caravan today. My Dniece brought her 2 boys over and we met in the park on Tuesday, it was a bit damp but not too bad. The cafe was open for takeaway so we all got ice cream. They have also gone to a caravan they bought in Wales recently, taking SisIL to give it the once over and a tart up .Snoozer was interested to read about your DNA result, I'd quite like to do it but I'm fairly sure it would be similar to yours- nothing wrong with 80 odd % North Western , although 1 set of GGParents moved here from Scotland....Tea last night was a bit of a mish mash of using up from the freezer, nobody complained though!Right better see if my washing is dry, have a good day folks.
