Very low mileage car

8 months in a field.
If the price is right, go for it.
Check a brand new one won't work out cheaper when all incentives are considered.3 -
8 months, so Nov/Dec 2019, 69 plate?
Well, that rules out the "Had to be registered by September 2019 emissions change deadline" possibility - so it's probably just "get another car through to hit target for the calendar year".
Nothing particularly to worry about - except, obvs, the manufacturer's warranty is ticking away. I hope it's a damn good discount on new-new, once finance costs are taken into account...2 -
Dealership buys it at the end of a quarter to get the bonus, but can't sell it for 6 months. Covid gets in the way, so it sits for 8 months.3

I helped my MiL buy an EV from one of those car supermarkets and it was a year old and only had 80miles on the clock.
Turns out it was a lease car that obviously never got used. Was superceded by the new model so was just sold.
As above, get some quotes from CarWow etc. to ensure the price is good relative to brand new.1 -
Just a pre regged motor. Pretty common and how I got my currnet car. Make sure the discount makes it worth while you buying it over speccing your own.2

Bear in mind also the first service may be due in four months.1

Thanks everyone, you've put my mind at rest.
This is from a VW main dealer with full guarantee, so I assume the mileage is genuine.
I particularly wanted a Mk7.5 Golf, just superseded by the Mk8, as the latter is too hi-tech for my liking, so I've got the equivalent to a new car.
It was first registered Dec 2019, obviously looks brand new, and I've saved £6,000, so I'm a happy TG!3 -
Pre-reg!
I love a pre-reg, to the extent that I have bought and still own 2 fron different brands.
Due to COVID there are gazillions of them around at the minute.
You'll probably stumble across evidence of the true date of manufacture as you poke around the various cubby holes, ashtrays etc.

I have seen a couple of my model still for sale at delivery mileage, some actually older than mine. I bought mine in December, 10 miles, 2 weeks reg and 2 months built, 35% off list and in "just off the transporter" condition plastic on the seats and stickers all over it etc when I viewed it. My previous pre reg was 8 miles, 8 weeks from reg but had been built 9 months prior to reg and 32% of list.

Nothing wrong with a pre-reg car from a main dealer, but, this particular car was registered 8 months ago and that is 8 months off ofthe manufacture's warranty - A 3 year warranty is now down to 2years, 4 months - !'d want helluva discount for that0
