Yes, thanks, we had thought that about holiday homes but we need to see the locations as we are quite fussy and exacting about certain requirements! Currently, of course, we can't travel to do that!
We are going to do as suggested and have 100k in PB and the rest in the non-tax payers name in NS&I.

From other threads NS&I are very busy . If you do it all on line then no problem, but if you have to call them there will be a LONG wait . If you follow the correct on line process then should be no need to call them.1
