Credit scores and defaults

Hi everyone - I’m new to the forum and have a few questions on the above. I’ve been registered with Credit Karma and MSE’s Credit Club / Experian for ages - my CK score is 558 - needs work, and my CC score is 793 - fair.
When I’ve emailed KC before they’ve told me I have a default due to reach 6 years in November of this year - first question, if I tried to settle this before November (if it isn’t already, I’ve asked), would this help my score or not? Is there anything else I should try and do with it?
Second question - I thought I might be able to get more info on this default by registering direct with Experian which I have now done... this says my score is perfect at 999... how can it be so different to the CC version which uses Experian?
Total credit score novice here so any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

All the scores you see are made up. Don't worry about any of them as they have bearing on your credit worthiness.
Settled debts look better to lenders than unsettled.

I guess you’re another one who didn’t read the sticky at the top of the board before positing then...0

To be honest the damage has been well done by the default. As it’s so close to going off your file I wouldn’t settle it for that reason.
I’d look to settle it so they didn’t keep chasing for the debt.0 -

It's the very top thread. If people actually bothered to read it this board would have virtually no posts in it instead of the same thing being asked time after time after time.

Is this a bit clearer?

The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0
