Voluntary Redundancy

I’ve been with current employer 16 years part time for the last 9 years between having two children
I was called to a meeting yesterday & offered VR with a standard package & an extra payment length or service & commitment which I will only receive if I take up the VR offer
I won’t be required to work my notice period which is 12 weeks & will remain on furlough but at 100% rather than the 80% currently on
I feel I have no option but to take up this offer.
I have a few questions am I technically still employed for the next 12 weeks by the company as:

This could affect my daughters age 3 nursery funding?
If I get another job within these 12 weeks what happens?
I’m sure I will have more questions!

Firstly i'm sorry that you are looking at Redundancy............
Notice - you will not be required to work your notice of three months but your job won't end until the end of your notice period (in practice this means that you will require their permission to start another post within 12 weeks (which they will likely give)  VR is designed to avoid the employer having to go through a consultation period with other employers, a process which is unsettling and time consuming and may well result in you still being made redundant (highly likely) so to avoid this they are offering favourable VR terms.
  • I accepted the VR as alternatively they probably would’ve made me redundant anyway without the extra money.
So my redundant letter says my employment terminated on 23rd October (12 weeks) however they have paid me all monies due & dated my P45 31.07.2020
Which makes the two dates not inlign with each other
