You want to pay 3k to swap for an older car that will cost a whole lot more if it goes wrong? I'd stay with what you have.4

From a purely money saving point of view it makes no sense. However if you want to impress people you don't know by driving around in a BMW instead of a Hyundai then is that worth £3000 to you?

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Keep the Hyundai which you know to be problem free.
The older, more expensive BMW might only be available because it is problematic.
Why on earth would you even consider this swap?
Makes me think of the Harry & Paul "they saw you coming" sketches.1 -
..another vote for staying with what you have got already...not worth the risk. I am sure you can find something better to do with £3k?

We all have head-vs-heart moments. I’d say it all depends on how much spare cash you have. If your finances are borderline or you’re struggling with debts then the head should really rule. If you have plenty of spare cash then let your heart run free. In fact, it’s really the job of the head to get you into a position where your heart CAN be let loose.1
